The BC Coalition of People with Disabilities is a member-based advocacy group. Your membership supports:
The BCCPD was formed because the disability community needed its own voice. Our Board, members, and volunteers say, "nothing about us, without us”.
You can count on the BCCPD’s Advocacy Access program for expert and respectful service. We know which questions to ask and who to contact.
Our projects respond to community need and increase people's ability to participate and contribute. Our recent work has included: Emergency Preparedness inclusive of people with disabilities, an urban farm project, mentoring for residents in a long-term care facility, Registered Disability Savings Plan information, human rights research, and more.
In June 2010, we launched a two-year partnership with Volunteer Canada to deliver community training across Canada about emergency preparedness for people with disabilities. We maintain connections with over 1,500 groups in BC that support the disability community. Your support is crucial to our work in the community.
We publish unique materials - over 50,000 copies and counting – in plain language and alternative formats. If you’re educating yourself, providing care, teaching or doing research, you will find our publications useful and free online.
