I am an Employment and Assistance Worker with the Ministry of Social Development. When we issue PWD applications we also like to give out a copy of your ‘BC Disability Benefits Help Sheets’ package...which is great! MSD Worker

Thank you so much for your help with the PWD appeal process. It was accepted and approved and it is already effective as of November 1st. The diet allowance also got approved and I received 2 cheques for this month (one for the diet allowance and the other for the difference for the PWD status). This might sound old to you, but your assistance really is INVALUABLE. I nearly burst into tears when I received the acceptance letter. This is a good start for me so that I can continue on my way back to health and happiness and hopefully resume my nursing career at some point down the road when I am better. I already booked a dental appointment to have my teeth cleaned....so excited about this. Thank you Marie

Just wanted to let you know that we appreciate your website. There are always items of interest, and we learn something new or are updated about subjects of importance to our disabled clients with each issue. It is very valuable for those of us running support agencies in small communities to be able to make connections with those in the know, and we recommend accessing your site to our clients who have internet access.

From our perspective organizations and websites like yours, and the collective advocacy they can get started, is the way we will make governments see that they must do a better job of meeting the needs of people with disabilities. Your e-newsletter is very good. It informs on a lot of things. I have severe rhematoid arthritis and live in a small village, so it's hard to keep up or learn what is out there for people with any kind of disability. Keep up the good work as I'm sure there is a lot of people who gain knowledge from your e-newsletter. Gwen

I am advocating for my 28 year old son who has recently been diagnosed with high functioning autism, anxiety, ADHD and depression. Over the last few months I have made a lot of phone calls to get information related to provincial disability benefits.  Many of those calls have been discouraging.

I have just spoken to [Advocacy Access advocate] Ken who was wonderful.  He was articulate, intelligent, empathetic and has a sense of humour.  I can't tell you how encouraged I feel having spoken to him and just knowing that his advice and assistance is available to me.   

Having an adult child with multiple problems can be very stressful.  Finding someone who understands these issues and can answer questions makes a huge difference. Parent of a child with a disability
